Bi- and multilingual education has become more and more popular in today’s globalised world and takes place in various ways (first and second language acquisition, teaching languages at schools). In the first part of this seminar students will get to know about different approaches to language acquisition and bilingual education and we will take a closer look at research findings, theories and current developments. Further questions to be dealt with include:
What does language learning/ teaching look like in other countries? What are the advantages and disadvantages of people who grow up bilingually? To what extent does bilingual teaching influence integrating non-native speakers at schools? Topical research data and practical approaches will be discussed and reflected upon. In the last part of this seminar students are going to outline a bilingual concept with regard to the course results themselves (by taking their second subject into consideration).
