Kurzkommentar |
Location problems have countless applications both in the industrial and in the public sector. For example, optimized locations for production facilities and warehouses, for hospitals, fire stations and other public services, or for sensors on mechanical structures can significantly help decrease transportation cost and / or improve service and quality.
The course will cover the following classical location models and concepts:
1) Introduction: Motivation and Applications 2) Single-Facility Continuous Location 3) Multi-Facility Continuous Location 4) Discrete and Network Location
The course will be tought in English. In the second part of the semester, lectures will be replaced by intensive project work with final presentations during the last week of the semester.
