In many approaches to the study of language, consideration of variation is typically excluded initially and the emphasis is on standard forms. In this course we shall examine some of the ways in which modern English varies, which depend on the various groups that speakers belong to and the different contexts in which the language is used. We shall use the tools and techniques of linguistics to describe varieties of modern English.
Registration: Via WUSEL during the official registration period.
First meeting: Please note that if you are not present at the first meeting and do not inform me before, you will lose your right to a place in the course.
