Semantics is the study of the meaning of linguistic expressions, i.e., most prominently, of lexemes, phrases and sentences. The seminar will provide an introduction into the most important concepts for describing what meaning is in general, what the meaning properties of lexemes, phrases and sentences are, and how these properties are related. The students will also be introduced to basic ideas of how the semantic composition of lexemes into phrases and sentences can be represented.
