Part I of Bilingual Studies Abroad (winter term 19/20) considers theoretical facets of bilingualism and bilingual education, and also prepares students for a school placement in England or Wales (Part II summer term 2020). A placement like this gives students of English the chance to carry out their own enquiry projects addressing the connection between language learning and cultural learning, as well as exploring professional issues of teaching. In the end, students participating in the PrimA programme (Praktikum im Ausland) will evaluate the applicability of what they have experienced during their stay abroad to their own future practices as teachers of English as a foreign language or CLIL teachers.
