Contrastive syntax is concerned with commonalities and, especially, differences between the syntactic systems of (most typically) two languages. Contrastive studies are an excellent means for raising our awareness of the systematic characteristics of the two languages to be compared, English and German in our case. The topics to be dealt with range over several syntactic issues that are partly connected and partly independent of each other. We will be mainly working with König & Gast (2007/2012) (see under "Literatur").
