Bilingual education is considered a model of success. The ever increasing popularity of teaching a wide range of subjects in a second language and the number of different ways of doing so have triggered research activity as well as grass root activities among teachers. This course aims at exploring different approaches to teaching a subject bilingually. While exploring the theoretical background, the practical implications for planning and teaching will also be examined. Therefore, we shall be discussing the advantages and disadvantages of different models and the challenges faced up to by these approaches. Aspects of curricula and the material currently available for schools will also be explored. Where possible, research concerning the participants’ different subjects will be included.
