This is a course about language change, with an eye on syntax, and a particular focus an Old English, Middle English, and the transition between the two.
It is also a course in Early English, intended to provide some basic knowledge of Old and Middle English Grammar in areas beyond syntax.
But the center of interest is syntax. There will be a recapitulation of syntactic basics, after which we will look at particular constructions and their development in the variants of English spoken about a millenium ago.
Registration: Via "Elektronisches Vorlesungsverzeichnis" alias "WUSEL" during the registration period for the "Anglistik/Amerikanistik" department.
